Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day technical operations of assigned tanker vessels.

  • Monitor and ensure the technical condition and performance of the fleet, including maintenance, repairs, dry docking, and surveys.

  • Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits; follow up on reports and implement corrective actions.

  • Liaise with Chief Engineers and shipboard staff to support vessel operations and provide technical guidance.

  • Plan and manage dry docking activities, including budget preparation, scope of work, yard selection, and execution.

  • Review and control vessel budgets, technical performance KPIs, and spare parts procurement.

  • Ensure vessels comply with statutory, class, flag, and company regulations, including MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM, and ISPS codes.

  • Coordinate with other departments including HSQE, Crewing, and Operations to ensure smooth and safe vessel operations.

  • Assist in incident investigations and root cause analysis related to technical issues.

  • Support vetting inspections and ensure high performance in OCIMF/SIRE audits.

  • Maintain good communication and working relationships with clients, classification societies, and external vendors.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Class I Certificate of Competency (Chief Engineer Unlimited).

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Chief Engineer on Tanker vessels (Crude/Product/Chemical).

  • Minimum of 3+ years of shore-based experience as Technical Superintendent in tanker fleet management.

  • Strong knowledge of tanker operations, technical systems, and international maritime regulations.

  • Experience with budgeting, reporting, and planning of dry-docking and maintenance schedules.

  • Familiarity with planned maintenance systems (PMS) and ERP tools (e.g., AMOS, ShipNet, Sertica).

  • Sound understanding of vetting processes (SIRE, RightShip) and oil major expectations.
